Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India’s most respected commission in India which undertakes various examinations for the intake of students in various services in Military, Defence and Government Sector jobs. One such examination conducted is Combined Defence Service examination which is conducted for those who are enthusiastic and eager to work for country in defense area. This exam is conducted twice in a year on the month of May and October. Selected candidate are being sent for the training in areas like Air, Naval and Army.
After students clear their written exam are then interviewed by Service Selection Board and according the ability of the students they are being sent for training in institutes like:
· IMA (Dehradun)
· Naval Academy, Goa
· Air Force Academy, Hyderabad
· Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai
Eligibility for CDS examination
· Candidate, who is taking up training for IMA/OTA which is for Military and Officers area, then should be graduated from recognized university.
· Candidate who is taking up training for Naval Academy and Air Force, then should be graduated from engineering stream
· Candidates should be an Indian Nationalist
· Candidate who is taking up IMA training then the age should be not more than 24 yrs
· Candidate taking up Naval and Air Force then the age should not be more than 23 yrs
· Candidate taking up OTA then the age should not be more than 25 yrs.
Examination pattern for CDS examination
Candidate who is appearing for Military, Army and Naval has to appear for written exam which consist of Eliminatory Mathematics and General Knowledge. Candidate who is appearing for OTA has to appear for General Knowledge exam. Candidate has to complete the multiple type objective questions within 2 hrs.
Apart from that, candidate also has to appear for interview which is conducted service office of UPSC.
Application procedure for CDS examination
Every twice the year UPSC publishes the blank application form details in newspapers and Employment news paper. Candidate who wants to apply for any of the exam has to appear for the examination should send the request for the form to The Secretary, UPSC, and New Delhi by sending DD of Rs 20/-.. Apart from that, the same can be obtained from any Head/Post office by paying the same amount.
