Combined Engineering Service Examination

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India only commission in India which recruits candidates for various centers in like police, defence, naval, medical, Indian forest and other areas.  There are various examination held under its guidance and one such exam is Combined Engineering Service exam which is conducted to recruit engineers in various areas like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics. Students who successful pass from this engineering exam are being selected for various engineering post in railway, central engineering, survey of India, power, telecom and other government sector in India.
Eligibility criteria for CES exam:
·         Candidate appearing for CES exam should be graduated from engineering stream with 60% from recognized university in India.
·         Candidate’s age should not be more than 21 yrs and maximum should be 30yrs
·         Candidate should be Indian Nationalist. Apart from that candidate from migrated from Bhutan/ Sri Lanka/ Nepal to India and is permanently residing here is also eligible for the exam.
·         Candidate who is currently appearing for qualifying exam can also apply for the exam, but should provide the entire passing certificate before the final admission process or else it will be cancelled.
Examination Pattern of CES exam:
The exam pattern is divided into 2 sections. Where section-1 will consist of written exam which will cover all the engineering syllabus in objective type pattern and section 2 will consist of conventional papers.  The section will consist of Personality Test which carries 200 marks that should be completed in 2hrs.
The section 1 will consist of questions from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronical and Telecommunication Engineering. Every paper will be divided into 2 parts of 200 marks each.
The section 2 consist of personality test will give examiner an idea about the candidate’s mental ability and leadership quality.
Application procedure for CES exam:
The application form can be downloaded from http://www.upsconline.nic.in apart from that one can also obtain the form through post offices by paying Rs 20/- these forms are called as IES form which can be used for only once. Candidate has to fill the Common Application Form. The duly filled application form should be sent to:
