In the next two years, all SAARC countries will be sharing
common PG syllabus in all its universities. The shared courses will be
implemented on Master’s level for subject corporate governance, digital governance, regional economic planning,
sustainable development and heritage & culture. The final shape will be
given at vice-chancellors conference SAARC universities scheduled in Sri Lanka
in 2015.
This decision has come to the gist of the Udaipur
declaration an outcome of 2-day international conference, where all the
chancellors and delegates from universities of SAARC met. The conference was
hosted by Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) Udaipur.
Professor N S Rathore, V-C of Agriculture University, Jobner,
said “Each nation had its own priorities as per the geographic and economic
condition of their respective lands. Therefore, those courses, which gained
maximum consensus, were chalked out.”
The academicians also made recommendations including a
common publisher for the shared courses to rule out the probability of
publishing errors. They also suggested an online forum for exchange of ideas to
bridge communication gaps among universities.
The committee will also set up to monitor the progress
regarding uniform curriculums. In addition to this, universities also agreed
for cultural and sports exchange programme on an international level for the
benefit of their students. The members came up with the idea of V-C
exchange programme, wherein they would visit various universities to analyze
management.
