UK government tightens immigration rules for students

Now students going to UK for higher studies will be a hard task. Come November, tougher rules would come into force for universities and colleges sponsoring international students to study in UK.

Immigration minister, James Brokenshire proposing the idea of reducing the threshold, several universities' quota was hovering around 10 per cent level. Presently, institution cannot enjoy highly sponsored status if 20 per cent or more of the individuals they have offered places to are refused visas.

But from November, this figure will cut down to 10% after three-month transitional period for college and university. UK Prime minister David Cameron said that hardworking people deserve an immigration system that puts Britain first and that over the past four years they have clamped down on abuses, making sure the right people are going there for the right reasons.

As per recent survey, British government is bending over backwards with scholarships to attract Indian students into their campuses. Meanwhile, Home secretary Theresa May also said that they are building an immigration system that is fair to British citizens and legitimate migrants, but tough on those who abuse it or flout the law.
