The National Council for Educational Research and Training
(NCERT) has done certain changes in some textbooks after complaints from social
groups.
In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, HRD minister Shashi
Tharoor said, CBSE had received complaints from social groups regarding History
contents of class IX and XI.
The problem was raised about sub-section- 'Islam Ka Udai Aur Vistar' which had
some disgraceful remarks on Nadar community.
Moreover, it was also received regarding derogatory words in
Hindi text books. However, NCERT informed HRD sometimes writer expresses in
words that reflects the realities. Similar complaints were received in 2006 also
which were examined by committee constituted by chairmanship of Yash Pal.
