Bengal school committee is undergoing the discussion with
West Bengal Department of Education of adding chapters on Nelson Mandela and
cricket Maestro Sachin Tendulkar, in state-run schools' core curriculum,
informed the officials on 18 December.
Chairman of the West Bengal School Syllabus Revamp
Committee, Aveek Majumdar told that an informal discussion was held between him
and the Education Minister Bratya Basu to work on chapters on the two
remarkable and inspiring achievers, in the school syllabus.
The chapters on the two luminaries can be introduced either in
subject history or any of the two mandatory language papers - Bengali or
English, said Majumdar.
Nelson Mandela was
South Africa's first non-white president who took last breath on December 5 at
the age of 95, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Whereas, Sachin Tendulkar
got retired on 16 November after performing in his 200th Test match, held in
Mumbai.
