Certificate course in Cyber Security

Today, there are five billion mobile phones on earth and two billion Internet users. As a result, the amount of data we are generating is growing exponentially. Given the increased reliance on interconnected systems for societal and economic benefits that use this data, it’s little wonder that cyber attacks are becoming more frequent, organised and costly in the damage they inflict on government administrations, businesses, economies and other critical infrastructure. Cyber (computer) Security includes protection from unplanned events and natural disasters.

For example, over 15 million people (generating more than 450 million page views) accessed the IBM hosted website for the UK’s 2011 Wimbledon Tennis Championships. The web hosting service was provisioned on a private cloud and, as part of its security; IBM deployed an intrusion prevention system which inspects network packets to determine which are suitable to be allowed through to the firewall. This helped stay ahead of threats -- preventing up to 80,000 attacks per day during the Wimbledon fortnight.
