Online MEd Counseling at Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University starts today

Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University has announced the application for online Med counseling in University and affiliated colleges. Students are required to log on to www.kanpuruniversity.org to fill the form. Students can select the affiliated college from where they wish to complete their counseling. 

CSJMU registrar Syed Waqar Husain said that students who have lost  the token for participating in the counseling, can mail their scanned copy of application form number before October 19, latest by 4pm. After receiving the mail, the university will then be sending login ID and password so they can take part in the counseling. 

The verification of the entire document will be done from October 21 to 24.

IIM Bangalore listed under top B-Schools in Central Asia

With its continuous effort to offer high-class business education for aspiring IIM graduates, IIM-Bangalore has been awarded as the top business school in central Asia as per Eduniversal 2013 Ratings and Rankings.

The Paris based Eduniversal is a global ranking and rating agency specializing in higher education. The rating agency chooses three B-Schools from nine geographical zones. While National University of Singapore led by Far East Asia, Harward Business School and London Business School topped the list in North America and Western Europe.

The committee considered two essential factors- the international criteria and dean’s vote. However, the latter one is peer assessment where the dean is being asked to highlight an institute. 

Commenting on the status of education I India, Natarajan Krishna Kumar, CEO, MindTree India, said, “Indians have a fundamental philosophy that education is very important and we have a propensity to invest in education, so we present a market of great opportunity. However, when foreign universities come to us, they must realize they cannot bring in the European or American model. They need to build a local product and a local curriculum at an effective cost for India. And they must partner with institutes of global repute here in India.”

IIM Lucknow introduces Advanced Program in Customer Relationship Management

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow has invited application for newly introduced course named Advanced Program in Customer Relationship Management. This course is specially designed for working professionals in the CRM field. 

Objective of the Program:

·         Understanding the need of customer and how customers’ orientation impacts firm’s profit.

·         To provide right framework and concept of the field that includes: Process, programs and practices.

·         Implementing programs and building customer oriented firm.

Duration of the program:

Duration: 6months

Class schedule: Saturday (6.30 pm to 9.30pm)

Frequency: 3 hrs per week

Eligibility:

The eligibility criteria for Advance program in CRM are:

·         Candidate must be working professional

·         Should be graduate with 50% marks from any field and recognized university

·         Minimum 3 yrs of working experience from similar field.

Autonomous colleges are now eligible to grant degrees-UGC

With more than 441 autonomous colleges across country, HRD ministry has given power to colleges to grant degrees, which will take the load off from universities.

By the end of 12^th plan, 45 colleges out of 441 will be promoted to the title of universities and can allow granting degrees. This decision was taken at the meeting of select autonomous colleges with HRD and UGC official on Monday. 

During the brief ministry said, “Some of the universities have more than 800 colleges affiliated to them with the result that their entire time is consumed by routine administrative tasks leaving little time for research and innovation. On the other hand, many of these colleges though imparting high level of education having potential for research are not allowed to grow as they are not allowed to work beyond the limits prescribed by the University system.”

Keeping the similar thought, Education secretary Ashok Thakur felt the system could provide going beyond limitation from the role of affiliation. The autonomous process will be done with upgrading colleges with ‘A’ National Assessment and Accreditation Council or just by giving them the power of granting degree.

In the meeting it is also decided, under Rashtirya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) if the college desires to convert into universities, they will be provided with funding upto Rs 55 crores.

AICTE mandates Accreditation of all colleges under its domain

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced that it will make mandatory for all colleges to be accredited under its council. Once done, colleges will have to conduct classes for 10% of the curriculum through online mode. 

The idea was put down during the seminar “Perspective Plan for Approval of New Technical Institution in the State of Maharashtra” that was organized on 3^rd by technical education regulator DTE.

The DTE director, SS Mahajan said, presently many colleges are facing vacancies than before. Last year, more than 100 engineering colleges faced 35% vacancy, and this year around 264. In diploma institutes, more than 275 seats have gone vacant.

Looking at the concern shown by head of many colleges over vacant seat, AICTE chairman gave opinion by saying colleges should work over better quality rather than showing concern over vacant seats. He further added, it’s true that technical education sector has rapidly expanded over the years, and are planning for future growth.

“The average success rate of Class XII students is 50%. If that goes up and you have more students knocking at your door, how will you suddenly increase capacity?" he suggested.

With the expansion, it will help student to have various choices, but colleges which do not perform well will have to fight hard to overcome the vacancy problem.
