As per chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir, the
university will start offering job oriented courses under the circumstances of
providing higher education in the valley.
"If you look at Kashmir valley and Ladakh region, the
higher education opportunities are very limited. The total number of seats even
in basic sciences is very limited," said Srikumar Banarjee.
The university is also building good faculty in advanced
level that cannot be neglected.
"There is a proposal that we should start working on
nanosciences. But when we research and we find that if you want to start
working on nanosciences and nanotechnology, you must have a basic background of
physics and chemistry. "So unless you start the departments of physics and
chemistry, you cannot embark upon nanosciences. We are building facilities for
advanced education and other vocational courses, but we cannot neglect the
higher education component," added Banarjee.
The vocational course would include diplomas in automobile
repairing and mobile repairing by partering with local units.
