With CBSE made board exams options for class 10 3yrs before,
students, parents and teachers are still have doubts about school based exam
over boards.
The concept of boards (exams) being made optional is still
not clear. Please specify," is the top query of stakeholders to CBSE
authorities, reveals a list of frequently asked questions answered by the
board.
There have been enormous measures that were taken to gain
feedback for implementing the same in the country. CBSE Chennai regional
officer T S Rao said, "New schools that don't know about the reform still
ask about it. Older schools are clear about how and why it can be done.”
According to the recent statistics, many established schools
still hesitate to opt for school based exam.
In 2012-13, 77% of class 10 students in Tamil Nadu opted for board exam.
"I wanted to opt for the school-based exam, but my
parents felt that our schools are not ready for this reform. They are not ready
to accept these scores as being as reliable as the board exam scores,"
said a Class 10 student in a CBSE school.
This year, 1.28 lakh class 10 students will be going for
school based exam in Chennai. There is an increase 4,000 students compared to
last year. The Chennai region comprises CBSE schools in Tamil Nadu, Kerala,
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar
Islands, and Daman and Diu.
