With the new order passed by Delhi High court, B-Schools and
management colleges need not have to compulsorily adopt Common Management Admission
Test (CMAT) for MBA admission.
Presently, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
mandates CMAT entrance exam for students to get eligible for management course.
The court also has cleared that MBA education is not considered as a technical
education, which is why, the AICTE neither can take charge in MBA admissions
nor monitor the process.
Plaintiff, Romy Chacko, had disputed the Single Bench
decision of making the CMAT entrance exam optional, saying the Supreme Court in
a judgment had firmly stated of MBA education not falling under technical
education, therefore, AICTE cannot hold its charge in MBA admissions and
process.
Mr. Chacko supported his side by drawing attention to the
requirement of putting a regulation for conducting entrance examination for
admissions to the course before the Parliament, which in the case of CMAT was
not done thereby CMAT have no legal value.
MBA is the world most popular and prestigious management program for the students and organizations employees. Now a days most of the working candidates are taking interest in distance learning MBA program for their career.
