About American College Testing



American College Testing (ACT) is entrance test conducted for students who want to seek admission in UG courses in USA. The test consists of four tests; English, Maths, Reading, Science and Writing. The test was first conducted in 1959 and has become popular since then. The scores of ACT are accepted by all four year colleges and universities across USA. 

Besides, ACT scores, universities in USA also prefer Letter of Recommendation, Statement of Purpose for as selection criteria. The test is designed and conducted by ACT Inc to measures students’ ability about educational development and college work.

Period of ACT:
The examination is conducted 5 times in a year. It is conducted in the month of February, April, June, September and December. The basic qualification to apply for this exam is 10+2 from recognized college.

Applying for ACT:
The deadline for the application of ACT test date is scheduled 5 weeks before. All the registration materials are offered by the schools counselor and even from the official website of ACT Inc.

Exam Details:
English: 75 multiple choice questions, 45 minutes, Tests grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and rhetorical skills.
Math: 60 multiple choice questions, 60 minutes, Algebra I and II, Geometry and some Trigonometry.
Reading: 40 multiple choice questions, 35 minutes, Four passages (prose fiction, social studies, humanities and natural sciences) with 10 questions per passage
Science: 40 multiple choice questions, 35 minutes, Questions on Science based passages presented with graphs, charts, tables and research summaries
Writing: Writing Test optional, 1 essay, 30 minutes

Scoring Pattern for ACT:
On each test, students will earn one ACT score (1 to 36) on the test and composite ACT score. The test also includes optional essay, which is a writing test where students will get sub-score and combined English writing score.
