Kerala State Eligibility Test (SET) date announced



LBS Centre for Science and Technology Thiruvananthapuram has announced the date for Kerala State Eligibility Test (SET) for the session December 2013. The exam is conducted for candidates to select as Higher Secondary Schools Teachers and Non-Vocational Teachers in VHSE.

Eligibility Criteria:
·         Candidate acquired Master's Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade and B.Ed degree in any discipline from any one of the universities in Kerala.

Paper Pattern:
Exam will be divided into two papers with the duration of 120 minutes
Paper - I: Paper - I is common for all candidates. It consists of two parts, Part A - General Knowledge and Part B - Aptitude in Teaching.
Paper - II: Paper - II shall be a test based on the subject of specializations of the candidates at the PG level.

How to Apply:
Candidate has to undergo 2 steps to apply for the KSET:

STEP 1 – Online Registration
a) Log on to the site www.lbscentre.org  or www.lbskerala.com
b) Click SET-December - 2013
c) Click Download Application Form
The candidate will be prompted to type the application number and the Site Access Key.
The application number and site access key printed on the application form should be typed to get the format of the online application.

STEP 2 – Mode of Sending the Applications
After completion of Step 1, the application form obtained along with the prospectus shall be filled in, affixing a recent passport size photograph of the candidate (no attestation required). The duly filled in application along with the printout of the online application shall be sent to

The application form should be sent by registered post or can be handed over in person at the LBS Headquarters so as to reach his office on or before the last date fixed for submission of applications.

Mock Test for practice by CBSE for Computer Based JEE 2014 Exam



With an intention to help students in feeling comfortable while appearing for JEE 2014 computer based exam, CBSE has initiated Mock Test for practice. These tests can be taken up for free at official website of CBSE- www.cbse.gov.in
 
The test is divided into 4 different sets and each test carries 90 questions and are divided in 3 sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. A total of 180 minutes duration will be given to attempt all the questions.

Each question is allocated 4 marks for right answer, and one fourth marks will be deducted for each wrong response.  The mock tests are offered in both English and Hindi. 

The registration process for JEE (Main) 2014 is underway and will close on 26th December, 2014.

About American College Testing



American College Testing (ACT) is entrance test conducted for students who want to seek admission in UG courses in USA. The test consists of four tests; English, Maths, Reading, Science and Writing. The test was first conducted in 1959 and has become popular since then. The scores of ACT are accepted by all four year colleges and universities across USA. 

Besides, ACT scores, universities in USA also prefer Letter of Recommendation, Statement of Purpose for as selection criteria. The test is designed and conducted by ACT Inc to measures students’ ability about educational development and college work.

Period of ACT:
The examination is conducted 5 times in a year. It is conducted in the month of February, April, June, September and December. The basic qualification to apply for this exam is 10+2 from recognized college.

Applying for ACT:
The deadline for the application of ACT test date is scheduled 5 weeks before. All the registration materials are offered by the schools counselor and even from the official website of ACT Inc.

Exam Details:
English: 75 multiple choice questions, 45 minutes, Tests grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and rhetorical skills.
Math: 60 multiple choice questions, 60 minutes, Algebra I and II, Geometry and some Trigonometry.
Reading: 40 multiple choice questions, 35 minutes, Four passages (prose fiction, social studies, humanities and natural sciences) with 10 questions per passage
Science: 40 multiple choice questions, 35 minutes, Questions on Science based passages presented with graphs, charts, tables and research summaries
Writing: Writing Test optional, 1 essay, 30 minutes

Scoring Pattern for ACT:
On each test, students will earn one ACT score (1 to 36) on the test and composite ACT score. The test also includes optional essay, which is a writing test where students will get sub-score and combined English writing score.

Reschedule of AIBE-VI Exam



The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced the reschedule of All India Bar Examination (AIBE) from 22nd December to 19th January, 2014.

AIBE exam is mandatory for all law graduates and want to qualify for advocates.

The new schedule is:

·         Date of Examination- 19th January, 2014.

Great Lakes Institute of Management PGPM & PGDM 2014 Admission notification



Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai has announced the admission notification for PGPM & PGDM for the year 2014.The duration of PGPM is 1 yr and PGDM is 2 yrs.

Eligibility criteria:
  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institute with minimum 50% marks.
  • Candidates applying for any of the course should have minimum 2 years of work experience as on March 31, 2014.
Selection Procedure:
  • Candidates will be shortlisted basis their scores in GMAT (cut-off is 670), CAT 2013, XAT 2014 and CMAT 2013-14 (cut-off is 95 percentile).
  • The final selection will be on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview, past academic performance, essays and work experience.
